Located on the Potomac River, just 15 miles from the Nation’s Capital, Great Falls is one of the most beautiful communities in Northern Virginia. Large lots and wooded areas create a country atmosphere, yet Great Falls has easy access to employment and cultural events in Washington, D.C. In addition to upscale restaurants, we also have local coffee shops and casual restaurants that are gathering places where neighbors meet for morning coffee or lunch.

Great Falls National Park and River Bend Park are magnificent landmarks drawing residents and tourists alike for hiking, picnics, fishing, boating and to see the spectacular Potomac River Falls. Many people kayak or canoe from Algonkian Park to River Bend Park. Other nearby parks include Lake Fairfax and Algonkian Park, which includes a popular public golf course. Golf, swimming and tennis can also be found at River Bend Country Club and Great Falls Swim and Tennis Club. For the equestrians and mountain bikers, there are miles of trails in Great Falls that link to other county trails.

Great Falls has it’s own library and three excellent elementary schools: Great Falls, Forestville and Colvin Glen. Cooper is the middle school and Langley is the high school. There are also excellent pre-schools in Great Falls.

An abundance of local community activities lend to the small-town feel of Great Falls. Many activities take place on the Village Green the most popular being the Easter Egg Hunt, Fireworks and a Parade on the 4th of July, Free Summer Concerts on the Village Green, the Halloween Spooktacular, and the Tree lighting at Christmas. Great Falls offers a wide variety of organizations, athletic teams, art, garden and historical clubs for all interests.
