Vienna

Charming Vienna blends small-town feel, cultural events, trails, parks, and diverse homes.

Welcome to Vienna

With its holiday parades, town festivals, police officers who teach children how to ride bicycles, and neighbors who have known each other most of their lives, Vienna prides itself on having a small town feel. The most popular festival is ViVa! Vienna! and the Halloween and 4th of July parades are also popular. The population is around 15,000, and includes many families with children. The close-knit community and safe neighborhoods are welcoming and alive with outdoor activities, especially during the summer. The Community Center offers an array of classes for those interested in crafts, collecting, and the performing arts. The successful Phoenix Teen Center is part of the community center and serves as a model for other communities.

Vienna is also well known for it’s diversity of cultural and recreational offerings. It is home to the nation’s only national park for the performing arts – Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts. Wolftrap is a national showcase for great classical, rock, jazz and country concerts, as well as ballet, opera and theater each summer. The Vienna sports leagues are available for children of all ages and are among the best in the area. Nature trails and hiking and biking trails are plentiful, notably the Washington & Old Dominion Regional Railroad Park trail. Restaurants abound with a wide variety of ethnic choices along with standard American cuisine. Great shopping is nearbyat Tysons Corner and Tysons Galleria which feature Nordstroms, Saks, Macy’s, Lord & Taylor and Neiman Marcus.

Meadowlark Botanical Gardens is located in the heart of Vienna and offers picturesque garden walking trails, three small lakes, picnic pavilion, gardening and horticulture programs, and facilities for receptions and meetings.

The W&OD Trail runs through Vienna. The trail is well suited for runners, bicyclists, inline skaters, hikers and walkers. In addition, equestrians may avail themselves of a bridle path that parallels the asphalt W&OD Trail for 32.5 miles – from Vienna to Purcellville. Vienna is located about 12 miles from Washington, DC. Access to major highways (particularly Rt 66 and I-495) is convenient. The MetroBus and MetroRail system make the commute easy for Downtown travelers.

Homes range in the area of $400,000 to $2,000,000 and include single family homes, townhomes and condos. Most of Vienna attends either Marshall or Madison High School, although depending on the area, some students also attend Langley, McLean or Oakton High Schools.
