Oakton is a beautifully wooded community with rolling hills and wooded lots, many of two acres or larger. It’s close to major arteries and the Vienna Metro for those who wish to commute to the city. Located adjacent to Vienna, Oakton shares many of the Vienna schools. Children in Oakton attend one of four Elementary Schools: Oakton, Waples Mill, Flint Hill, and Providence. Middle Schools include: Thoreau, Jackson, Franklin, and Lanier. High Schools include Oakton High and James Madison (located in Vienna) and Fairfax High (located in Fairfax). Flint Hill private school is also located in Oakton. Flint Hill is a Co-ed school with grades K-12. There are also two Montessori Schools in Oakton.

Oakton is comprised of detached single-family homes priced from $500,000 to $2,000,000 and townhomes priced from $400,000 to $700,000. Oak Marr Park Golf Club is a 9-hole par-three course and part of the Fairfax County Park System. It includes a 76-station driving range with target greens and heated tees.
